Nakita S. Adams Empowers Uganda Filmmakers

Tell stories in your own style and make a difference on the local and international film market.” These were the words of Nakita S. Adams during a 1 day workshop on Finance and Marketing of film, organized by UCC at its headquarters in Bugolobi on Monday 11th September 2023.The workshop explored creation of a winning pitch deck and management of film finances,  facilitated by Nakita S. Adams.  This is the 2nd workshop she is holding in Uganda in a period of one year.  

Nakita is an executive from Warner Bros, an American film and entertainment studio.  She is a television and film production business administration graduate from Howard University. She has worked as a productions executive for BET Networks and BET International.  Adams is currently the head of Television Development at Folding Chair Productions, a production with an overall deal with Warner Brothers Studios in Burbank, California.

Nikita encouraged participants to take advantage of the 70% quota for local content imposed on the local stations by UCC to produce more local content.  The 70% quota is a unique initiative only found in Uganda.

The workshop was attended by producers from different film production houses in the country.  Also in attendance was a team from Mediavision Academy whose main is interest was knowledge transfer.   Mediavision Academy was represented by Nkambo Robert the Director and Anent Aloyo the Director of Studies.

In her remarks, the acting Executive Director Irene Kaggwa commended Nikita for supporting the Ugandan filmmakers and encouraged the participants to apply the knowledge in their daily work to produce more local films.
